Tracking enables therapy development based on data analysis
TETHYS creates the basis for turning self-tracking, i.e. the recording of health-related data by users of personal health devices, from a „toy into a medically valuable tool“ for individual health monitoring and intervention. The knowledge gained is to be further developed in subsequent projects into innovative prevention and care concepts that can support doctors or health coaches in patient care, especially in regions with poor health care.
In order to achieve these goals, everyday data (e.g. on lifestyle parameters and other health-related digital biomarkers) collected from subjects of the population-based Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP-NEXT-0) by tracking devices will be collected over two years and combined with the extensive, high-resolution data set of the baseline study of SHIP-NEXT-0.
TETHYS will also establish a privacy-compliant digital infrastructure necessary for data storage and analysis of long-term tracking data. For linking the tracking data records with the information from the SHIP-NEXT-0 baseline study and making them available pseudonymously for scientific analyses, the structures established at the site (trust office, data use application procedure) will be used.
In a first use case, explorative evaluations will be carried out in TETHYS with regard to the use for better care of patients with cardiovascular diseases (e.g. early detection of high blood pressure, blood pressure deceases or heart failure), which will be transferred to other application scenarios for new preventive and therapeutic care concepts (e.g. mental or metabolic health) in future projects.
In addition, TETHYS will create a globally unique data set for long-term self-tracking, which in combination with the very broad epidemiological data set will be of high scientific value and interest.
TETHYS is funded by the Damp Foundation.
